Craft Party round-up!

How time flies! We can’t believe the Craft Party took place a week ago! We’ve had some brilliant photos taken by Claire of Yellow Bear Wares and Judite of Juream Box, so we thought it’s about time for a round-up and a look back at what happened at the party!

Lots of people managed to snap up early bird tickets which meant you got a free goody bag on the door filled with some great treats. Team members Woah there Pickle, designosaur, Rock Cakes, The Kestral and the Sea, Jasmine and Hobbes, Eat Me by Wicksteads and I like CATS all donated goodies, from cake toppers and badges to brooches and DIY bracelet kits. Everything came in a lovely screen printed tote bag from hello DODO. There was also a copy of the latest Inside Magazine, a lovely gift from the Brighton Lush store and some other little bits and pieces. Everyone else got an I like CATS poster print to take away.

Once inside there was lots to keep everyone busy! First stop was the table of free cake (decked out with fabulous Wickstead’s cake toppers) and the bar, before taking a snap at the photobooth. The pictures everyone took with the hashtags #Btnetsy and #Craftparty appeared on the big projector screen, along with pictures from other parties happening across the world!

We were lucky enough to have some local musicians come along to play live for us throughout the night which added a lovely atmosphere to the party and got everyone in great spirits for a bit of crafting! Two large tables filled with paper supplies encouraged everyone to have a go at making; you could collage a postcard or have a go at ransom note poetry. The best ones won some great prizes including a Rock Cakes medal!

For those wanting a little more guidance with their crafting we had four fantastic workshops. Ellen of B Millinery lead a group collage which saw partygoers getting experimental with paper cutting and sticking with all the colours of the rainbow, on a kaleidoscope image of the team logo.

We were lucky enough to have Zoe of Ladybird Likes visit us from London to run a paper animal puppet workshop. Zoe provided stencils and lots of great materials for people to make foxes and bunnies; some of the results were really brilliant!

Team member Amandine of Fleur de Carrotte also got people trying something new, with her 3d effect papercutting techniques. There was such a diverse range of artworks made throughout the evening, even Amandine was surprised by everyone’s creativity!

One of the most popular workshops of the night which had people waiting to have a go at was Georgie St Clair’s flower collage workshop. There was a selection of beautiful flowers and foliage to work with along with Georgie’s templates. Each piece was photographed by Georgie and will be made into a print sold for charity.

Alongside the workshops we had hello DODO demonstrating gocco printing, with everyone getting to take home one of their ‘Crafty Seagull’ prints for free! Vicky of Woah there Pickle also helped everyone make some wonderful collaged badges with her trusty badge machine.

The atmosphere in the balloon-and-bunting filled Brighthelm Centre was wonderful throughout the night, and it seemed like everyone was having fun while meeting new friends, eating cake and having a go at crafting! The Craft Party is an annual event, so we hope to see you all again next year!
