“Turning a joke that got out of hand into a fully fledged illustration business”
Alice will try and explain how she managed to turn a quite silly blog on her tiny corner of the internet into one of the more ludicrous jobs in London (drawing Birds in Hats for money) and will hopefully impart useful advice on how to go full time as an illustrator along the way. We’ll cover working with Etsy, shops, people around the world and even the arduous job of trying to protect your IP in the internet age and will answer any questions you might have to do with birds or business.
Alice Tams is the talented artist behind the hugely popular brand ‘Birds in Hats’ which she has grown since graduating from Goldsmiths in 2011. She runs her business from her studio in London, while also taking on a range of personal and commercial illustration commissions. This year Alice has been acting as an official mentor for new Etsy shops as part of their Etsy Resolutions campaign.
We are really looking forward to Alice coming to talk to us about her life as a full-time illustrator, and running her own successful business.
The talk is on Monday 22nd February at the Old Market in Brighton, doors open at 7pm and the talk will begin at about 7:30. Join our Facebook event here.
