Hello! I’m Claire, and I make cute and quirky laser cut jewellery, illustrate greetings cards and other bits and bobs.
I have been into design and crafts since a young age, so it has always been my goal to make a career out of it. In 2011 I graduated with a 1st class degree in Communication Design, and then went onto get a job as a graphic designer in a local design studio (Brighton WordPress)- which 2 years on I still do full time as my day job. I enjoy the variety and the creative the job brings, no two days are the same!
Outside of the day job I love to take part in craft fairs in Brighton and beyond. I took part in my first craft fair just over 2 years ago which was Craftaganza at fabrica gallery. I loved the atmosphere and met some lovely crafty people and since then I have never looked back!
I began illustrating greetings cards and selling illustrated cotton bags, pocket mirrors and badges. In 2012 I also launched my laser cut jewellery range, which has had great feedback. This year my jewellery has been part of the catwalk at High Street Fashion Week London, and has had a full page feature interview in Making Jewellery Magazine- the UK’s biggest jewellery magazine. My jewellery has also been featured on Charlotte Church at Brighton Fashion Week and has had many press and blog features.
As well as taking part in lots of craft fairs I also organise my own, called The Fairy Tale Fair. The fair is based locally in Patcham, Brighton and was launched in August 2012. The fair has gone onto have great success, including over 45,000 blog views, and over 3,000 facebook and twitter followers combined. The fair has had great reviews from stall holders and visitors alike and has been featured by The Crafts Institute, The Argus, Vintage Brighton, We Love Brighton and many more! The next fair is on Saturday 16th November, and will be full over over 35 craft and vintage festive stalls of loveliness! There will also be craft workshops for all ages, face painting, a charity raffle, a wonderful vintage tearoom and a vintage singer too. Please head over to the blog to find out more!
I set up my Etsy and the start of this year. I love the fact that Etsy makes my creations accessible worldwide! I made my first sale in January and Dot the Dalmatian went off to Florida which was a lovely feeling! I still feel I am in early stages of my Etsy journey and have a lot more to build on. I am very excited to have been selected as one of the new Etsy team leaders and can’t wait to share lots of our exciting plans! I feel I am probably the least experienced in terms of the Etsy shops however I am good at social media, blogging, promoting and organising! I have set up this blog, and will be in charge of the posts, so please check back regularly as there will be lots of lovely stuff on the way!!
Thank you for taking the time to read and speak soon!
